Continue reading “Goal Review 2020”Hey everyone! Welcome to the second half of the year. I hope everyone agrees with me when I say it feels like the year started yesterday. I wish I knew what tomorrow knows because I don’t understand where we are rushing to.
Continue reading “Mid-Year Goal Review”Is it too late to share my blogging goals for the year?
It feels strange to be back here after a long time. I took a sudden break from blogging as I needed time out to figure a few things regarding my blog and also because content creation is a struggle. This break I took led me to considering starting afresh and deleting this blog but obviously, I didn’t do that and here we are today. With new energy, a positive mindset and a good “why behind the blog”. Also, during the break I realised one problem I face with blogging is planning. I rarely plan my posts or think about them before I start writing. Usually I’m just caught up in the moment and start writing, edit and post. That seems like a good idea until months go by and you haven’t been “caught in the moment.”
So as a result, I decided to focus my energy into improving my blog and I took time to see where I want my blog to be at the end of the year. I came up with 6 blogging goals for the year and I’m going to share them with you.
This is something I struggled with throughout 2019. I was more consistent in 2018 but last year I just had so many things coming at me,I allowed the blog to fall back. This year, I intend to post every two weeks provided I am healthy physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually because no one wants to read forced work. In order to achieve that, I have already set out ideas for the next few months, which may change of course depending on what’s going on around me.
So far, I’ve changed my blog name once. The first one, which I really liked, was stolen. I’m sure it was stolen. I didn’t have enough fight in me to go back and forth with the person over the name because first of all, where was my copyright? So, I changed it to “Dose of Wonani” which I don’t really like because there is nothing creative about it. Also, I never planned of having my name linked to my blog in such an obvious manner. It just made everything seem so personal and aggressive. Well to me it did. So now, I want to change it for hopefully the last time. I have a few great ideas that are waiting to be approved by my team (in my head). Changing a blog name comes with re-branding, making new posters and all that. It’s a lot of work. I’ll see how it goes.
I want to put everything in order. I feel like right now everything is all over the place and so I want to set everything up in such a way that the blog is easy to navigate. I also want to have a fixed number of categories for my posts just so that things are easy to find. This is for my sanity as well as yours.
I have always highlighted how I write for myself before I write for others. This remains true to this day. However, I’d like for my blog to one day get recognition, to have guest writers and I’d also want people to enjoy reading the blog. This requires professionalism on my part and understanding that this is no longer just a hobby but is critical for my well being too.
I’d like to write articles in future and do a bit of freelance writing and what better place to start learning all that than here? Also, I learned the importance of having a niche in blogging and I’d like to seriously implement that as it guides the type of things I post. For now and for the foreseeable future, this remains a lifestyle blog which has so much to it and so I won’t be limiting myself. However, I do hope to one day branch off into what I’m really passionate about. As soon as I know what it is, I will. As such, it is important that I remain professional in my work because I’ll never know where the blog leads me.
I do not have a big social media following and I’ve just never thought it was necessary for me to share my blog posts EVERY SINGLE TIME. I must say though, that sharing the blog on social media brings in a lot of traffic. So I just have to master the art of social media marketing this year.
This is something I have never done! I would love to work with other bloggers and people who are specialized in different fields. Do a couple of interviews, have guest bloggers share their work and just interact with people. There are a few people I’m targeting right now and if that goes well, you will be seeing something new here. Just the thought of that is exciting.
Finally, if you have any interesting and specific topics you’d like me to write about, or questions you’d like answered, feel free to leave a comment below. I would love to hear from you!
Love,
Wonani Xx
